About Julio Rocha, MBA

“Results Over Resumes”

26 Years Serving Orange County Families. Now Fighting for Affordable Housing, Better Transportation, and Economic Opportunity.

I am running for Orange County Commissioner District 8

Julio Rocha is a business owner, national nonprofit leader, and longtime Orange County resident who has spent his career helping people build stronger futures. With decades of real-world business experience and a proven record of community leadership, Julio believes that when communities come first, everyone has a chance to succeed.

For nearly two decades, Julio and his wife, Yasmin, have owned and operated a successful insurance and financial services agency in Orange County, helping families and small businesses protect what they have worked hard to build and plan confidently for the future. Throughout his career, Julio has built, grown, and successfully exited businesses across several industries—including financial services, apparel, janitorial services, and media—creating jobs and delivering measurable results through disciplined, practical leadership.

But Julio’s understanding of hard work began long before he became a business owner. After returning to the United States at eighteen and settling in Apopka, Florida, his first job was working at a horse stable. Those early mornings and long days taught him something he has never forgotten: the dignity of honest work and the determination it takes for families to build a better life.

Born in Queens, New York, Julio spent part of his childhood in the South Bronx before moving with his family to Guayaquil, Ecuador, where he completed his education at Colegio San José La Salle. Living in different cultures shaped his perspective and strengthened his appreciation for education, opportunity, and perseverance.

Julio’s commitment to service has focused on helping individuals gain access to better jobs, stronger professional networks, and meaningful career opportunities. His leadership with Prospanica began in 2007. He served as Vice President and President of the Orlando Chapter, was later elected to the National Board of Directors, and ultimately served as National Chairman of the Board. In recognition of his national leadership and impact, Prospanica awarded Julio its highest honor, the Brillante Award.

Julio has also served in several key public advisory roles. He spent eight years on the Latin American Advisory Board for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, served on the Certification Appeals Board for the City of Orlando, and was appointed to the Industrial Development Board under Mayors Teresa Jacobs and Jerry Demings. In 2022, he was selected to serve on Orange County’s Redistricting Committee, helping ensure fair and inclusive representation for local communities.

His leadership and community service have been recognized by diverse communities throughout Central Florida. In 2015, the Mexican Consulate in Orlando honored Julio as Hijo Adoptivo del Consulado de México en Orlando for his dedication to community advocacy. In 2021, the Puerto Rican community—the largest Hispanic population in Central Florida—named Julio Godfather of the Puerto Rican Parade in recognition of his long-standing support and commitment to unity across cultures.

Julio and his wife of nineteen years are raising their two children in South Orange County. Their family also includes two rescue cats and one rescue dog. For Julio, Orange County is more than where he lives—it is home.

Julio Rocha is running for Orange County Commission District 8 with a focus on housing affordability, transportation solutions, and expanding economic opportunity. He believes government should work as hard as the people it represents and is committed to creating pathways to better jobs, supporting small businesses, and ensuring working families can afford to live and thrive in the community they call home.

Because when communities come first, everyone has a chance to succeed.
